content at home after a good day's work

dec 13 we found out our little person is a boy.
dec 15, in the 17th week, i felt him prodding around in there and it was just unbelievable. it was basically a warzone of what felt like red hots being thrown around-one or two at a time, every few minutes. it lasted about half an hour then we both fell asleep. i very much look forward to the time tyler gets to feel this from the outside. it put a whole new perspective on this. (and i thought finding out what it was would be the 'last' new perspective.) changes every day - amazing changes - and i really am starting to become obsessed.
i'm working out with an amazing certified pre-natal instructor, Julie, on mondays and wednesday -- getting all rough and tough for a smooth delivery. these visits also helped bring my spirits up in the first trimester. (being sick really took more outta me than i realized as i look back. poor tyler! he was a soldier sticking by me through those first few months!!) Julie gives me helpful hints, a great workout routine, and hope that i can actually make it through this thing they're calling labor. i'm brushing up on a lot of reading on induction and the drugs that are used for it (and finding out how i am not in favor of it) and also trying to learn about immunization cocktails. there are so many delicate checks and balances that i didn't realize come with this territory. i never gave moms enough credit, that's for sure.
having this baby creates very sentimental, deep thought drives home. for example, i drive by East High School every day coming home from work. years ago, i wouldn't have given a second thought to the groups of kids walking together, or ones walking alone, and wonder if those kids really, REALLY know what love is and how exciting life will be in the upcoming years of college, tying the knot, buying a home, etc. of course, they'd all say they do (as I would have 15 years ago) but they are in for a huge treat. i only wish for them the happiness and love i feel every day because of the people, pups, and miracles in my life now.   gr
